Spending cuts

Posted by Fiona Mactaggart, MP for Slough, at 09:28, Fri 18 June 2010:

The spending cuts that the government has just announced will mean fewer jobs in Slough. The Future Jobs Fund is gone, Connexions tell me they probably have to make all their staff redundant to make this level of cut in year, so no careers advice for youngsters, the September guarantee of job training or education for young people has gone. I predict that for the first time in 2010 unemployment in Slough will grow month on month as a result of these shortsighted cuts. All the work I have been doing to grow skills and opportunities for local people is to be wasted by theis blind orthodoxy from the Tory led government which is driving the economy into a double dip recession.
