Wood Green Police Station - Success!

Posted by Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, at 16:24, Wed 20 January 2010:

Dear Neighbour,

Good News! After a long-running campaign by local Liberal Democrats and a lot of nagging, it has been announced that the front counter at Wood Green Police Station will be open for 24hrs a day. This is a great success and I would like to thank all local residents who have supported my campaign.

For too long, the residents in the Wood Green area have not been able to go to their local police station to report a crime, when it is most needed. A lot of crime happens at night, yet neither the Labour-run Haringey Council, nor the local police, thought it was a priority to provide this vital service.

I am glad that they have finally decided that it should be a priority after all, and now Wood Green residents will be able to have access to police services, 24hrs a day.

Together with Cllr Aitken (our crime spokesperson on the Council) and our Liberal Democrat team, I will continue to fight against police cuts in Haringey. If you have any thoughts or issues, on this or any other matter, that you want to raise with me, just get in touch.

Yours sincerely,

Lynne
