In addition to the usual work I am doing in response to local concerns (housing, parking, education, crime), I am about to host a conference to discuss ways in which we can improve sporting opportunities for young people in Westminster; I am working with the St John's Wood branch of Amnesty International, planning a summer meeting at the House of Commons on Human Rights and following up a recent churches-led meeting on climate change, amongst other things. I am also settling in to a new role on the London Poverty Commission, which is examining why we have not made the same inroads into poverty in the capital as in the rest of the country, and what we can do about it.
I welcome constituents views of these and any other topics of local, national or international concern.

It’s good to know that someone in the ‘new’ Labour party still has an interest in Human Rights. The current regime will be remembered in history as the government that was obsessed with centralist control and the persistent erosion of human rights. Including the human rights of those living in the UK, and of basic right to life of citizens of Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.

Dear Karen Buck
1. A major issue in my neighborhood is the noise from the new Volvo buses. TFL have adopted a denial posture. You could be of real help;can you let me know if you are addressing this?
2. I work in Afghanistan advising the telecoms operators; would you like some background?

Dear Mr Cook
Thank you for your post. I am sorry for the delay in replying. When talking about the Volvo buses, I assume you live somewhere near Chepstow Road or at least bus routes 31 28 and 328. Karen has been taking a interest in this and is well aware of the issue of these buses.
Given that you are talking about specific issues, is there any chance you could either email me at n.smith@rpkn-labour.co.uk or phone the office on 020 8968 7999 and Karen can take up these issues with you directly.
