MPs' expenses

Posted by Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, at 10:12, Wed 20 May 2009:

Dear friend,

Knocking on doors this weekend I met lots of people who were rightly angry about MPs' expenses. There were obvious legitimate enquiries about my expenses too, which I am more than happy to answer.

I have never claimed for a second home. Having lived in our constituency most of my life and only 35 minutes away from Parliament, I thought it would be ridiculous and wrong to make the taxpayer pay for a second home. I have posted online a detailed breakdown of how I used my allowance in the 08/09 financial year for you to scrutinise, please see http://www.lynnefeatherstone.org/lynne-featherstone-biography.htm#expens

It is absolutely clear that there must be root and branch reform if Parliament is to regain the trust of the people it serves – something I will continue to push for.

If you have any questions, please do get in touch. Best wishes,

Lynne.
