Hello again,
I would be very interested to know what you think about the measures laid out in the Chancellor's recent Budget.
You can either let me know publicly by posting a comment here or, alternatively, you can email me at begga@parliament.uk.
With best wishes,

This is a terrible budget... it keeps on increasing the debt without accountability... typical of the Brownites who have been doing this for close to a decade... Whatever happend to the idea of a balanced budget?
Would you run your house like this? No way!! Would you cut sundry expenses to try and balance the budget? Yes.
Lets start by cutting MPs expenses so that there is a cap of , say, 10% over base salafy. Anything over has to be justified and audited by external auditors.

The budget again penalises the top entrepreneurs in our country by increasing tax rates for the top earners. Its a typical knee jerk concession to appease the left and will raise very little revenue. Many will leave UK to set up businesses elsewhere or find loopholes in tax avoidance schemes. The only winners here are tax lawyers and accountants. The chancellors expectations rest on extremely optimistic view of future growth which is not shared by any independent financial commentators. We also got into this mess partly during Gordon Browns chancellorship of his policy of deregulation and his light touch approach which encouraged risk taking. Also there was too much reliance on Financial Services in the UK to generate growth with little manufacturing support and further decay. We will be left with massive public debt now and ever higher taxes. Public spending must be cut back.
