Nadine Congratulates East Anglian Air Ambulance For Charity Award Shortlisting

I am delighted to offer my own congratulations to the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) for being shortlisted for a national award.
Charity Times, the UK's leading charity magazine, run the awards, with the EAAA being nominated for its work to extend the charity’s operations into Bedfordshire last year. EAAA is one of three finalists in the category for Fundraising Team of the Year. The Awards will be presented in London, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel on 17th September 2008.
I want to take this opportunity to congratulate every one at the East Anglian Air Ambulance for their success in being nominated for this prestigous award. The expansion of the Air Ambulance Service into Bedfordshire has almost doubled the charity's costs, to almost £3 million a year. Until this campaign was launched there was no dedicated air ambulance service in Bedfordshire.
I remember attending the high profile launch for the campaign at the Millbrook proving ground, and I am delighted that the EAAA’s appeal in Bedfordshire has been such a success, so much so that within just four months of the launch they were in a position to bring the helicopter for Bedfordshire into service. This was much earlier than had originally been expected and is a testament to the generosity of people in Bedfordshire who donated so much through fundraising, to turn the charity's vision into a reality.
The EAAA operates a 365 day life-saving service across Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Norfolk and Suffolk. It receives no government or National Lottery funding and has to raise £3 million per year to keep its two air ambulances flying and to provide the advanced medical equipment they carry.
