Thank you for sending me this email. I would like to take this opportunity to repeat a major concern I have written to you before.
Last week I took my son-in-law to the Community Day Hospital at Halton General for an out of hours GP appointment. Whilst I was waiting in the car I looked on in horror and anger as I realised that the rest of the hospital was in darkness. The windows of the once full wards were off. Not because it was late but because it was closed. The closure of our local hospital, Halton General, and the obvious asset strip completed by Warrington General over the past years is, and will always be, a scandal and a disgrace. You did reply to my original letter but I was more confused and annoyed after reading it. The plans for Halton should be simple. Reopen and restore this valuable centre of health and care excellence it once was. No amount of posturing, political double talk or 'plans in the making' will be enough to calm local peoples fears that the nails are in the lid and we, your constituents, will never again have a decent, properly funded hospital in Runcorn again.
You have never voted against the goverment I believe. For once listen to the people who got you your job, and please write to the Health Minister for an urgent review and reopen our ( OUR ) hospital. Warrington is a dump. Under-mannned, under resourced, patients left to fend for themselves for hours on end, and staff over-stressed. A recent visit showed signs of a major clean but prior to that it was dirty too boot. On the several occasions I have been admitted, I have asked I be taken anywhere but Warrington General. The Paramedics said they could not, but agreed with me that this hospital is overloaded and Halton General is a wasted but much needed asset. Please give us OUR hospital back.
