Post Office Closures in Wimbledon
Posted by Stephen Hammond, MP for Wimbledon, at 14:31, Thu 27 March 2008:
I understand that you have recently emailed me via the "Hear from your MP" website, on the subject of post offices in Wimbledon.
I was shocked to learn that four of Wimbledon’s post offices have been earmarked for closure, and I agree that this will have a significant negative impact on local communities and businesses. I will therefore be doing all in my power to resist the planned closures. Please see the press releases on my website which detail how I am going about this.
I am recommending that constituents write to the Post Office as part of the public consultation outlining their particular concerns. You can do this by writing to National Consultation Team, Post Office Ltd, FREEPOST (no stamp is required) or emailing consultation@postoffice.co.uk

Yes, this is a great communication vehicle to and fro MPs. I hope Stephen will also go a step further for us and confirm that : (a) not only the original closure of some 3,500 post offices during the last Tory govt was wrong, but, (b) the heart-changed Tories now oppose the post office closures in principle, and for future too. [Otherwise it'll all sound like hypocrisy/opportunism -- as many a letter in our local Guardian alluded to!]
