Lisbon Treaty
Posted by David Drew, MP for Stroud, at 11:24, Thursday 20 March:
The House of Commons has been involved with scrutinising the Lisbon Treaty on the future of the EU. I voted for a referendum - as I stated I would, and against the Bill because it encapsulates further liberalisation of our public services.

Liberalisation is a misnomer as it implies freeing something/one from a bad situation, offering instead a better one. Liberalising previous public services has not improved their service any more so than when they were nationalised, instead it has lead to confusion, duplication and foreign ownership. Who are the persons for whom such a move is truly beneficial? I suspect shareholding organisations and individuals looking for a fast profit. Well done for voting against such devisive greed!
