Jacksons Lane

Posted by Lynne Featherstone, MP for Hornsey and Wood Green, at 12:25, Wed 16 January 2008:

I just wanted to update you about Jacksons Lane. You may have heard about the threat to a key grant facing Jacksons Lane Theatre and Community Centre - a key source of funding that could disappear as soon as April!

Jacksons Lane is a wonderful facility - this a vital community arts centre, and has only just reopened after urgent repairs. It would be much missed if it were forced to close. The Arts Council have said that they are concerned about Haringey's commitment to the Centre, so it is imperative that we show that the people of Highgate, and the wider area, are steadfastly behind Jacksons Lane.

You should have received a petition from my Lib Dem colleagues Bob Hare, Neil Williams and Justin Portess calling on the Arts Council to renew their funding. Over 320 of you have already signed - a fantastic response. If you haven't signed yet, you can do so online at http://campaigns.libdems.org.uk/jacksons.

I will be meeting with the Arts Council next Monday to present our petition and argue the case for Jacksons Lane. I will certainly keep you informed as to how it goes. Wish me luck!

Kind regards,

Lynne.
