Health Services

Over recent years this Government has pumped more and more tax payer’s money into health services in the UK but the sad and sorry fact is that it has not been well spent.
The loss of out of hours GP services, the unavailability for many of NHS dentistry, the shambles in doctor training posts and the threat of severe cuts to local hospital services indicate how badly the money has been spent. At a time when population is increasing in East London and demands on the NHS are rising how Ministers can justify plans for cuts in our local hospital is beyond belief. It is a disgrace in a National health service that patients are subject to a post code lottery in the availability of particular treatments.
Our doctors, nurses and other health care professionals are doing their very best in a system that is letting them and their patients down. Political interference, Government set targets and poor management that has failed to move with the times lie at the root of the NHS’s problems.
We need to put in place a healthcare framework that draws in citizens, health professionals, commissioners, providers and government in working together to secure world class outcomes across the health system.
I would like to know your views and to learn of your experiences, both good and bad, of our health care system.
Lee Scott

There is confusion over the future of Whipps Cross and King George's Hospitals. Barely a day goes past when we do not hear a rumour that one or the other is closing, which in itself is a source of anxiety. This constituency needs both hospitals, obviously. My GP service is excellent, but we are prevented from making appointments further than one day in advance. This issue was raised with Tony Blair before the 2005 General Election on a TV Q&A, but it does not appear to have been resolved. Alex Chaplin

My GP is a brilliant doctor. He's just great.
When I had my daughter in Whipps Cross - that was great. The staff were lovely.
And I have never had anything but good and thorough care for my children whenever I have had to take them to A&E.
I don't think this is just luck - some excellent people work as healthcare professionals in our local area.
