Parliamentary recess
Posted by Jo Swinson, MP for East Dunbartonshire, at 12:54, Thu 26 July 2007:
Hi everyone
As Parliament rises today for the summer recess, the question I'd like to pose to you is this:
What do you want me, as your MP, to be doing over the summer recess?
Not travelling to Westminster each week for the next couple of months gives me more time and flexibility in East Dunbartonshire and, apart from a short holiday, I will be working - so your views are much appreciated on what you think my priorities should be.
Hope you are enjoying the summer yourselves. Remember, you can also keep up to date with what I am doing at www.joswinson.org.uk and please do encourage friends, family and neighbours to sign up to www.hearfromyourmp.com so they too can find out what their MPs are doing.
Cheers, Jo

I believe you should be asking people in East Dunbartonshire about housing. Especially those who are on waiting lists or have young adults in their homes, waiting for THEIR own homes. I believe you should push the housing issue up the agenda in East Dunartonshire.
Also, I think you need to look into facilities for young people in the Courthill/ Castlehill area of Bearsden- there is a lot of teenage/young person disaffection in this area, and perhaps you should talk to some people about what the area needs by way of facilities. If you want, I can get a number of people who work with young people/ are parents/ and some young people together for a public meeting with you. I wrote to you on this issue after you were elected, and I feel your answers were not satisfactory - ie. the Allander etc. This area had a community centre until the tories pulled it down (promising a new one) and now we hear the space is to be used to build more housing in an already very built up area. Meanwhile, there is a fantastic park across from Castlehill for people to walk their dogs. Let's invest in our young people, please.
