Dear Constituents, First things first: I must confess that the Hear From Your MP website is not something I’ve really delved into before now. I tend to find that, thanks to my website and blog, (and maybe a few too many comments in the papers!) Norwich people know where I stand and that I'm always fighting for them, so this method of communication has never been in great demand before. Nonetheless, when I got an email from the team at Writetothem.com saying that quite a lot of Norwich North people want to hear from me through this route, I thought it was worth a go. I want to keep this fairly brief, because I don't expect that many of you want to read a great rambling email. For those of you already distracted and waiting to bail out now, I have three places for you to divert off to:
•My Google Map, showing where I have been in Norwich and when: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=101463762919964022846.0000011312e7905f6b455&z=12&om=1
•My blog on the Evening News website: http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/content/Interactive/blogs/IanGibson.aspx
My photo album showing some of the events i've been to: http://picasaweb.google.com/iangibsonmp
All of these are available from the front page of my main website at www.iangibsonmp.co.uk
Now, for those of you who survived that torrent of websites, I'll continue with a quick run down of just a few of the things that have captured my attention over the past few weeks. - Trying to organise an inquiry into the exposure to radiation of veterans at Christmas Island
- Working with M.E. groups and looking into the treatments and government support offered to sufferers
- Working to prevent counterfeit drugs entering the UK
- Looking into documentation surrounding the cadmium drop over Norwich in the 1960s
- Helping residents next to the former Startrite factory ensure that the proposed development is done with minimal disruption and that their views are hear by the construction company
- Looking into the concerns about wi-fi technology and assisting with the BBC Panorama programme on the same subject
- We published a report into the fiasco with the Norwich – London train service a few months ago, details of which can be found by visiting: www.freewebs.com/onerailwayinquiry
- We're just about to begin looking into the costs of putting an elderly person into care in Norfolk and whether the current system is fair and what people’s experiences of it are. That lot is just off the top of my head, but there are countless other local and national issues that I’m involved in. In Norwich itself, a lot of our work is for individuals - those having problems with their benefits, Child Support Agency claims, or housing needs. At the last count, there were around 10,000 cases on our systems in the office; that means that my staff and I in Norwich try to solve over around 1000 cases per year. Given there are two caseworkers and myself, that can be no easy task. I'm duty bound to mention at this point that if you do have a case you would like to raise with me, then details of our advice surgeries are available on my website - www.iangibsonmp.co.uk. We do advice surgeries on Fridays and Saturdays, so it is never difficult to get in touch with me. I think that sums up nicely what I'm up to at the moment. As I mentioned earlier, the best way to keep up to date with how i'm earning my keep is through the links I posted above. They're very regularly updated - always weekly and often daily - so pay them a visit and I hope they prove interesting. Best wishes and thanks for the interest, Ian

Many thanks Dr Gibson M.P.(Ian),
It is with great pleasure I receive, this, one of your latest communications, demonstrating your total dedication to the electorate, and even more especially, those that you directly represent, myself among those numbers. As one of the 'few' hard-working M.P.s, may good health remain with you, to enable you to continue in your endeavours. I consider myself fortunate to have been one of your constituents during your period of office.
