Elmbridge Court
Posted by Laurence Robertson, MP for Tewkesbury, at 07:49, Thu 14 June 2007:
The County Council has decided to drop its parkway station proposals at Elmbridge Court, for now, but is to press ahead with its proposals for a park-and-ride into Gloucester from Elmbridge Court. I should be glad to hear the views of constituents on this. Laurence Robertson M.P. Member of Parliament for Tewkesbury

Seems like a sensible idea, the car parks in the centre of gloucester are often full and quite threatening as a result of the people that seem to hang around them

I'm very pleased at both of these developments.

It seems foolish to open a further railway station that may have the effect of increasing travel by road so that people can access it. Park and ride may be a good idea, but will it increase congestion around an already very busy junction. Adrian

It is always a good idea to provide reasons for using public transport instead of a car

I live in Churchdown and thought the idea of a station on the main line was good. The present Gloucester station is on a spur and I understand is starting to be bypassed by some services. As for the Park and Ride, a site this side of Gloucester is needed.

I am very much in favour of the park and ride scheme, which will improve access to the local towns without bringing the cars in. I am also pleased that the Parkway Station plans, along with the associated reduction in rail services to Cheltenham Spa station (which can more easily be accessed on foot) have been dropped.

Ashchurch (for Tewkesbury) is on a main line but its already been bypassed by some services. As a result I have to travel to either Cheltenham, Gloucester, Pershore or Evesham to go to most places (esp. London).
Why isn't the County Council pushing for increased services to Ashchurch?
How do you travel to London, Mr Robertson?

I am aware of the problem and have raised the issue of reducing services at Ashchurch with the government. I travel to London from Pershore station or else I drive. I am sorry you are having these difficulties and I will continue to do all I can to try to help.
