East Riding Town and Parish Councils reject NHS beds proposals
Posted by Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, at 15:19, Wed 28 March 2007:
More than twenty parish and town councils in the region have written to the East Riding of Yorkshire Primary Care Trust to reject proposals put forward in a recent consultation document to remove all beds at community hospitals in Beverley, Driffield, Hornsea and Withernsea.
Local MP, Graham Stuart, last month wrote to every parish and town council in the Beverley and Holderness constituency to ask for their support in the campaign to safeguard local NHS beds and services.
Twenty two councils have written to the Trust to outline their opposition to the proposals. Graham, who is Chairman of East Riding Health Action Group, said, “I have received an excellent response from parish and town councils across Beverley and Holderness. Never have I seen communities so united. Parish and town councils, councillors of all parties and none, voluntary groups and GP practices all reject all the proposals as they stand. We have presented a very strong case to the Trust and I urge Claire Wood and her team to reject these proposals.”
