House of Lords Reform
On Wednesday 7th March MPs will have the opportunity to vote on the reform of the House of Lords. I feel it is important to hear the views of as many people as possible on this issue of major constitutional reform. We will have the chance to vote on whether we need a second chamber (i.e. whether we want to abolish the House of Lords altogether)
• Should we abolish the House of Lords?
If we keep the House of Lords, how might a new House of Lords be composed? The options we will vote on are listed below. They range from 100% elected through to 100% appointed.
Please let me know what you think:
• 100% elected
• 80% elected, 20% appointed
• 60% elected, 40% appointed
• 50% elected, 50% appointed
• 40% elected, 60% appointed
• 20% elected, 80% appointed
• 100% appointed
