Fighting for the Horton General Hospital

By far the biggest local issue in my inbox, is the future of the Horton General Hospital. For those who have supported the campaign, a massive thank you. For a number of months now we have been fighting an effective campaign, which has included a 20,000 signature petition to Tony Blair, a visit by the Leader of the Opposition to the hospital, and a rally of over 5,000 people in Banbury's People's Park. We have made a detailed case, backed by medical experts, outlining how downgrading children's, emergency and maternity services would be, in the words of 85 local GPs, "inhumane". We have persuaded the local Primary Care Trust, the Oxford Radcliffe, to review their proposals once again. There is however still a long way to go before we are successful. You can read about the campaign in more detail at www.save-our-services.com, and see what next we'll next be taking, and also register for regular email bulletins by emailing me at baldryt@parliament.uk. I would very much welcome your comments, and I hope, especially if you live in Banbury, you will join the fight to keep the Horton a General Hospital.
