The future of the world's first television studios

Dear friend,
The HearFromYourMP website is fantastic, it gives MPs a good opportunity to keep in touch with local constituents. Although I have been doing this for a while now using my online diary, or "blog" to give the technical term http://www.lynnefeatherstone.org/blog.htm
Did you know that the world's first television studios are in jeopardy? Did you know that they are based in Haringey?
In fact they are at the historic Alexandra Palace.
The Chair of the Alexandra Park and Palace Board has confirmed to my Lib Dem colleagues on Haringey Council that there is no long-term protection for the studios in the proposed lease.
The lease that could be signed with the Firoka group only requires that the group provide a space for a museum somewhere within the building, not the maintenance of the original studios.
This would be a great loss to Alexandra Palace and to the Borough of Haringey. You can read more about this on my website http://www.lynnefeatherstone.org/news1713-alexandra-palace-tv-studios.htm
The television studios are of vast historical importance not just locally but nationally and internationally. It is a crying shame that Haringey Council in their rush to complete the deal with Firoka, has given no thought given to their long-term survival.
The Charity Commission will soon start a short, one-month public consultation on the proposals to sell the Palace. It will be crucial that everyone concerned about any aspect of the sale writes in with their view. You can send your email to enquiries@charitycommission.gsi.gov.uk
Later this month I will be participating in a panel debate – "The Future of Trident" on Thursday 23rd November at 7.30pm. The venue is the parish hall at Muswell Hill Catholic Church (Our Lady of Muswell), 1 Colney Hatch Lane, N10. For directions http://snipurl.com/10vks
Do come along and take part, it will be fantastic to see the venue full and hear peoples opinions, whichever side of the fence they sit.
You can also keep up to date with my work in Westminster and Hornsey & Wood Green on your behalf on my "blog" http://www.lynnefeatherstone.org/blog.htm
This is my online diary and I find a great way of telling everyone what I have been doing.
Best
Lynne
PS On Saturday I will be leading a group of Lib Dem Councillors and campaigners on the Climate Change march in Central London, why not come along and join us? You can get more details http://www.icount.org.uk/
