LOCAL NHS SERVICES

Posted by David Davis, MP for Haltemprice and Howden, at 16:17, Fri 13 October 2006:

I have just launched a petition calling for action to protect our local NHS services. Mr Brown's cuts to NHS services are having a real impact here in Haltemprice and Howden.

We are seeing the reduction of midwifery services from Goole Hospital which will affect my constituents in Howden and Howdenshire. This exercise is opposed by the midwifery team in Goole for very good reasons. Humber Mental Health Trust have also announced the possible closure of Rivers Ward in Goole and the Mental Health unit at Castle Hill in Cottingham. Once again I oppose those cuts as they could affect access to services. We have also seen a number of NHS dentists close their doors to NHS patients in recent months and years.

Rest assured I shall be doing my utmost to oppose these cuts. If the petition comes your way i hope you will sign it.

Regards,

David
