St. Peter's Road - Access for Everyone (SAFE) petition
Posted by Rob Wilson, MP for Reading East, at 08:46, Tue 15 October 2013:
I have received a number of petitions regarding dangerous parking on St Peter’s Road. This is a matter for Reading and Wokingham Borough Councils and therefore changes would not be my decision. Since none of the petitioners left any contact details I am unable to respond personally.
I have however forwarded the petition to Anthony Bolton, who is Head of Highways and Transport for Reading Borough Council and to Mark Allan, Head of Transport for Wokingham Borough Council. I am now awaiting a response.

The problem with parking on this road can be that of parking on both sides of the road. It is not wide enough, what is even more ridiculous is, those who practise this habit always seem to park opposite another car, thus making it difficult for anything other than a car, delivery vans or lorries with business in this area can find it very difficult. One could be left wondering how on earth an ambulance or fire tender might fare in an emergency on what is a vital arterial road in the area. Just as worrying, this road has been nominated for entry into a future temporary closure plan to create on street play areas at certain times of the day, this is plain bonkers. The problems are made worse at the eastern end by twice a day parents dropping off or picking up children from St Peters school, as they semi park and then escort their offspring on foot to the gates leaving their cars almost anywhere.
