I like your message to restore the 10% tax rate but why did you cut it out when you were in power?

You talk a lot about the unpleasant effect of cuts, but ignore the disastrous effects of Labour's borrowing, which must be repaid at eye-watering levels of interest. Apparently, Labour borrowed more, in its 13 years in office, than all previous British Governments combined.

Do people want lower taxes or jobs?
Posted by Colin, 08:12, Mon 1 April 2013: (Is this post abusive?) #
Obviously, people want both lower taxes & jobs. It is not the job of Governments to provide jobs, they are only able to provide the right conditions for private enterprise to flourish, including lower taxes. Lower taxes mean lower Government spending & certainly massively less borrowing.

Low income earners are taxed more compared with high income earners, not forgetting VAT. High income earners do not have to worry about the security of their jobs as is the case with low income earner, not forgetting benefit cuts. Who led us to the present mess? It is the bankers and the government's failed policy of bailing them out using tax payers money. What actions have been taken against the banker and the politicians (including the MPs who had supported the government)? None, and will the economy recover? Very doubtful. It is the young generation and elderly who have to suffer.

VOTE UKIP EVERYONE

Undoubtedly, the bankers & the 'stock market' were involved in the financial crash. The Government had no option but to bail them out, otherwise our whole economy & society would have disintegrated. However, the UK situation is made massively worse by Labour's reckless borrowing & scandalously wasteful spending.

The typical argument was that without a bailout the whole economy will collapse and everyone bought this argument. Of course those who are in charge of running this country would have been replaced - for better or for worst. Now everyone has to pay the price indefinitely, the young generation will have to suffer more. As we have a capitalist system with boom and burst, none of the party can do anything about it. Bankers were and are still involved in gambling and speculation, bring in the Islamic banking.

When we hear current reports of Saudi Arabia preparing to paralyse a man from the waist down, as part of their judicial process, I don't think the west will be in too much of a rush to adopt Islamic systems.

Saudi is an anti-Islamic state, where a fascist ruler has amassed wealth and has left the population poor, spends billions of pounds in buying war weapons from the US and UK to suppress democracy. I wrote that Islamic banking prohibits banks indulging in gambling and speculation. It seems we will continue the way things are, and it is going to get worst.

It is obvious that many Islamic States are riddled with corruption (as are many western ones). There is no evidence that the banking or commercial systems of these countries offer any superior benefits, or guarantees of probity. Whilst controls are needed over the excesses of the Stock Market, speculation is part of capitalism. The only alternative, socialism, has failed miserably.

I agree that the so-called Islamic States are in name only and not by deed as corruption is prohibited in Islam. Because they are corrupt the UK and US have taken advantage by supporting the corrupt rulers so that they may get oil and do what the UK and US tell them to do. I also agree that Capitalism, Socialism and Communism have also failed. No one wants to examine what solution Islam has to offer because the media has tried to portray it adversely. I also agree with the politicians who have said that in the capitalist society we have casino banking and that is the only way they are either able to make money or bankrupt the banks and then let the taxpayers foot the bill. Do we want to live in such a society?
