Superfast Broadband - Dundee and Angus
Posted by Stewart Hosie, MP for Dundee East, at 10:19, Wed 13 February 2013:
I'm pleased that more areas in my constituency are to benefit from BT's roll-out of high-speed fibre broadband.
The latest communities to benefit include Dundee’s Claverhouse and Steeple exchange areas, which, I'm told, will be upgraded by the end of Spring 2014. Claverhouse Exchange serves the Whitfield and Linlathen areas as well as Claverhouse itself, and Steeple covers parts of the city centre. Carnoustie, which is also in my constituency, is in line for an upgrade.
Dundee's Baxter Park exchange, which covers Maryfield, Craigie and Stannergate, recently benefitted from this and Broughty Ferry already has fibre available.
It's good news. When these upgrades are complete more than 29,300 homes and businesses across Angus and almost 39,900 in the City of Dundee will be able to benefit as a result of BT’s £2.5 billion fibre roll-out programme.
High-speed digital connectivity is a defining factor in our long-term success. Whatever you’re doing online, you can do it better and faster with fibre. It’s great for education, shopping, entertainment, the social networking we now carry out routinely online and it also offers huge benefits for businesses and public services.

I'd be very interested in knowing when Monifieth is likely to benefit from HSFB as it's next door to Broughty Ferry!

I've been asked when Monifieth is likely to benefit from HSFB - I'll try to find out.
