Employment Project
Posted by Lee Scott, MP for Ilford North, at 13:48, Tue 4 December 2012:
As many of you will know I am involved in the setting up of a pilot project that aims to get young people with special needs into paid employment. Our pioneering scheme aims to provide assistance to get them into work and to keep them there.
The project is being backed by our local business groups. Interface which is composed of parents who have disabled children have given their full support. I want to thank Redbridge Council for their assistance. I express my gratitude to council leader Cllr Keith Prince and cabinet member for children’s services Cllr Alan Weinberg who have been especially supportive of our aims
The intention is to get the young people into jobs early in the New Year and we are seeking to link candidates to the most suitable posts. Their salaries will be met by the business where they are employed. We will be seeking financial contributions from companies and individual to fund our support and mentoring service.
If you are a local business and can offer a young person a post please do get in touch.
Lee Scott.
