Local Policing

East Yorkshire's Police Force is presently conducting a review of incident response bases in the Haltemprice area. One of the options under consideration is the removal of 999 incident response services from Cottingham and their relocation to Beverley. I am very concerned about this as it could have a serious impact on local policing and on response times. We are reminded in the Hull Daily Mail this evening how important it is that the police respond to incidents as quickly as possible. In fairness the Assistant Chief Constable has assured me that he would take a great deal of convincing before any relocation took place. Rest assured I will be continuing to fight to keep the incident response team in Cottingham. I thought you might appreciate the update.

David Davis MP

Dear Sir, It is with gratitude that I note your comments on this situation. Having lived here in Cottingham for some time and enjoyed the relative peace which we enjoy in comparison to other areas and, also, the relatively quick response time from our local force with regards to incidents I too agree that it would be ridiculous to shift the call-out to Beverley when we have perfectly good facilities, newly built i might add, here in Cottingham. The local police should be commended for the admirable role they play though would wish to see them a little more often on the beat where they are, as always, at their most effective.
Yours Sincerely D. Tomlinson

Many thanks for the response to the message. It is indeed rather pointless producing lots of new Police Stations and then keeping them closed!
