I understand that you would like to “hear from your MP”! – so I am writing with information about a number of events for local people and organisations, which might be of interest to you.
Saturday 23 September, 1.00 pm , McDonald Road library. Information day with myself and Malcolm Chisholm MSP - an opportunity for local residents to come along and meet us, and raise any local or national issues of concern. A wide range of information will be available to take away.
Friday 29 September, 10 am - 11 am. In conjunction with Malcolm Chisholm, I am holding a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief, as part of the "World's Biggest Coffee Morning". This will be held at Vittoria's Café/Restaurant (Leith Walk, at junction with Brunswick Street). Drop in for a coffee and support this campaign. (You don't need to book a place, but if you can let us know if you'll be coming, that would help to give us an idea of numbers!).
On the morning of Wednesday 20th September, I have organised a local constituency information day in Leith in conjunction with Ukvisas. This is the UK government office which deals with visa applications from overseas. This is an opportunity to meet with staff from Ukvisas to raise any questions about the current procedures for visa applications. (Please note, however, that enquires about individual cases, will not be dealt with at this event). On Wednesday 4 October, Capital City Partnership in conjunction with myself have organised a seminar with Work and Pensions Minister, Jim Murphy MP, which will look at the implications of Welfare and Benefits Reform for Edinburgh.
