Atos Medical Assessments - A Crude Instrument
Posted by Roger Godsiff, MP for Birmingham, Hall Green, at 14:16, Thu 12 July 2012:
Despite all the numerous reassurances that the DWP continues to issue about the creditability of the Atos process the reality is that it remains a crude instrument for removing both the deserving and undeserving from receipt of benefits and it is being used as such.
Glaring inaccuracies and downright injustices by poorly trained staff using ‘tick box’ questionnaires to assess complex conditions rely on the appeal process for correction but take little or no cognition of the added anxiety and disruption this causes in people’s lives long after decisions have been reversed and benefits restored.

this system is completely unfair this is not a medical examination but a tick box exercise ie if you can walk a few yards lift your arm stand and sit does not assess your medical nor mental conditions or any ailments one has

Well done to PANARAMA for high lighting the unfair and flawed ATOS assessment, the stress, depression and often a further decline in health that these stupid assessments cause. And if you take your case to a tribunal and win, within a few weeks you are sent another assessment to attend, is far too much for some people, this has caused the death of over 1000 people. I then turned over to see 'Britain on the Sick' which also showed how they assessed you, they don't even talk to your own Doctor when making these presumtions. Well done, now everyone can see these assessment are more damaging to peoples health, it's just too bad it won't make a difference, there will be more suicides, depressive disorders, heart attacks, family killings, as long as it saves the Cameron cash.
