Rochdale Sex Grooming Trial
Posted by Roger Godsiff, MP for Birmingham, Hall Green, at 11:54, Mon 14 May 2012:
In a letter to the Home Secretary, Theresa May, Birmingham Hall Green MP, Roger Godsiff has sort assurances that any of the convicted who were not born in the UK will deported on completing their sentences.
Mr Godsiff said: “I have received a number of representations from members of the Muslin community living in my constituency who are disgusted and appalled by what these men did to vulnerable young girls and a number of them are strongly of the view that these individuals have no right to be part of British society.
He went on to say: “While I understand that those individuals who were born in this country have a legal entitlement to remain here I note that the ring leader is 59yrs old and may not have been born here”.
Mr Godsiff concluded: “ I have sort assurances that those members of the gang who were not born in the UK but who have been allowed to come here, settle, and may have become British citizens will have their entitlement to be here and any citizenship rights removed and that they will be deported at the end of their sentences”.
In other press coverage of the trial proceedings it has been suggested that at least two of the convicted will be deported at the conclusion of their sentences.

Whilst I welcome these communications they need to be checked before being published. I'm sure you haven't 'sort' assurances as this would imply you have a list and have ordered them in some way...
Rather you have sought assurances.
Thanks for keeping me informed anyway!

...and I've noticed another error. Have you really been speaking to representatives from the cotton fabric community...

If deportation is the case, will it also be the case for americans, australians, canadians and europeans? who have settled here? What will the criteria be living here 5, 10, 15 years or longer etc etc. Mr Godsiff please don't apply one rule to the commonwealth citizens and another rule for the rest. Criminals should be treated as criminals, no matter where they were born. if this was the case will the same criteria apply to murder, rape, fraud etc etc

I feel that all those who have committed crimes and are not born in the UK should be deported to their countries of orgin, this will teach a would be culprits a lesson. These people should be denied appeal to the human rights court by the British Parliament enacting the relevant laws. For the culprits who are born here they should be sent to jail (prison) in Africa or Pakistan, especially established for this purpose, as jailing them in the UK and the excellent facilities provided to them is a mockery of the system.

Disappointed to see you jumping on the racist Islamophobic bandwagon, initiated by the BNP's disgraceful demonstrations during the trial. This case has nothing to do with the ethnic origins of the defendants, these people are simply criminals, and their fate is a matter for the courts, not political interference in the judicial system. Shame on you for fuelling the BNP flames!

Dear Elizabeth. The question is who are the criminals: those who are grooming, those who are offering the services or those who are using the services? I am tempted to say all are criminals. However, we need to find the solution and I am in favour of it. One solution could be to bring back morality based on religion - be it Christianity, Buthism, Hinduism or Islam. Bing drinking, drug taking and wearing provocative clothing by the girls/women in public and late night out should be out lawed and if this means curtailing freedom, so let it be. BNP is a joke, simply because they demonstated does not prove anything. With regard to our judicial system, the judges seem to be soft on crime and as it is our prisons are full and provides one of the best facilities, like 5 star hotel, at tax payers expenses. You have erroneously jumped into the conclusion that I am jumping on the racist Islamophobia and that I am fuelling the BNP flames. By saying so you have made a defamatory statement but I forgive you. Those involved in grooming, if they were Muslims, are discreditng the religion of Islam and based on Sharia laws they need to be punished harshly.
