Simon Reevell MP encourages everyone to take part in a digital Diamond Jubilee gift for The Queen
Posted by Simon Reevell, MP for Dewsbury, at 18:20, Wed 14 March 2012:
The local MP has welcomed the launch of a digital Diamond Jubilee gift for The Queen. Members of the public are being invited to share memories and stories of the last 60 years to create the Jubilee Time Capsule. They are being asked to contribute videos, photos and text about a memorable day between 6 February 1952, when The Queen ascended to the throne, and 6 June 2012.
With over 23,000 items already contributed to the Jubilee Time Capsule, the project is set to be the most ambitious digital legacy of the Diamond Jubilee. So far, contributions have included family weddings, national political events, global environmental disasters, sporting victories and local community occasions. The best Jubilee Time Capsule entries will be presented to The Queen later in 2012.
Simon Reevell, the Member of Parliament for Dewsbury, said, “This is a unique gift to Her Majesty the Queen to commemorate a really special occasion. I want to see our local area represented in the Diamond Jubilee Time Capsule and so remembered when it is eventually opened.”
