Simon Reevell, the Member of Parliament for Dewsbury, has welcomed the announcement that homes and businesses in Dewsbury and Skelmanthorpe will be included in BT’s superfast fibre broadband programme.
Once a technical survey has been carried out, more than 94,000 homes and businesses in Leeds and West Yorkshire are poised to benefit from superfast broadband during 2012. The network which will bring the faster broadband to these homes and businesses, including ones in Dewsbury and Skelmanthorpe, features a mix of fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) and fibre to the premises (FTTP) technologies. As a result, the internet will be much faster than before.
Simon said, “From a business and domestic point of view, I am very pleased that the Dewsbury and Skelmanthorpe exchanges are being enabled for superfast broadband. As we all increasingly rely on the internet, it is becoming clear that access to fast and reliable broadband is vital for homes and businesses. It is great news that we can all look forward to using superfast fibre broadband next year.”
“I will continue to push for the expansion of the area which is covered by superfast broadband. I have also been in discussions with BT about satellite broadband in the local area and hope to have some news soon. Please get in touch with my office on 020 7219 3643 if you would like to know more.”

This is good news and I hope that Mirfield will also benefit in this programme as soon as possible.
