Simon Reevell MP visits the Calderway Sorting Office as they prepare for the Christmas rush

Posted by Simon Reevell, MP for Dewsbury, at 18:06, Fri 2 December 2011:

Simon Reevell, the Member of Parliament for Dewsbury, has visited the Royal Mail Calderway sorting office in Dewsbury.

Simon met with Peter Wager, the Delivery Office Manager, and the rest of the team responsible for ensuring the massive volume of Christmas mail is delivered, during what is the busiest period of the year for Royal Mail.

The last posting date for First Class mail is Tuesday 20th December and for Second Class mail is Saturday 17th December to ensure delivery before Christmas.

Simon said, “I was very pleased to be shown how our busy sorting office operates here in Dewsbury and to meet so many people who are obviously part of a dedicated, hard working team. I want to thank them for showing me round the sorting office and for all of their hard work during this busy season.”

“I also want to plea with dog owners to keep their dogs under control so that the men and women who work for the Royal Mail can go about their jobs safely.”
