Consultation on Regulation of the Press

CONSULTATION ON REGULATION OF THE PRESS
Hundreds of local residents have contacted me in recent days expressing concerns regarding the alleged phone hacking activities at News International. I share these concerns and have been appalled by the allegations.
A free press is essential in a democracy, however, many questions have been raised about the way in which our press is currently regulated and whether we need an alternative to our current system of self-regulation through the Press Complaints Commission.
I would very much welcome your views on this important issue. I have created a short survey on my website on this subject and would be grateful if you could take a couple of minutes to visit the site and let me know your thoughts. This will help me to represent your views. To complete my survey and add your own further comments please visit the following webpage:

If you have any friends or colleagues who you think may be interested in completing my survey, please forward this message to them.
Thank you very much for your time.
Best wishes
