James Paget Hospital
Posted by Brandon Lewis, MP for Great Yarmouth, at 09:50, Tue 2 November 2010:
I visited the James Paget University Hospital last Friday for a formal induction with Chairman John Hemming and to talk about healthcare within Great Yarmouth and Waveney. I was also able to speak with Kirk Lower about the workforce at the James Paget, Mark Madden about finances and Nick Coveney about transformation and patient care.
After this Chief Matron Julia Hunt gave me a tour of the hospital and the chance to take in some of the facilities and ask questions.
I was very impressed with the team and the work that is carried out at the James Paget Hospital; every time I go back there I never cease to be amazed at how hard the staff work to provide not only a top quality service but a friendly environment.
I was also updated on the progress of Palliative Care East, which is a superb project. I am taking part in a Triathlon next August and will raise money for 2 charities; one of which will be Palliative Care East. I will post more on that another time.
The James Paget is Great Yarmouth’s biggest employer, providing jobs for over 3,300 people; it also caters for a very large catchment area in both Norfolk and Suffolk. We are very lucky to have such a great hospital right on our doorsteps and skilled staff which ensure patients get the very best care possible.
