Hi there
A warm welcome to all of those who have contacted me on hearfromyourmp.org. It is an exciting new forum through which to engage with my new constituents, and I look forward to hearing your views on the issues affecting Nottingham East. I'd like to take this opportunity to say what an honour it is to be elected to represent the people of Nottingham East, and I look forward to representing you and your views in Westminster. Keep your eyes peeled for further messages, as I will be launching my website and facebook page in the near future, but in the meantime, I would like to know what you think I should be doing as your new MP. What do you think should be my number one local priority for Nottingham East? I look forward to hearing your views, and hope that you all continue to air your views on this forum. Best Wishes Chris

Number one priority is to help safeguard the 600 or so Asylum seekers who have been left without legal suport in Nottingham since the national closure of Refugee and Migrant Justice last month. This clossure increases the threat of destitution and increased marginalisation within our community. Efforts need to be made into supporting the local community organisations such as The Refugee Forum and Arimethea Trust in ensuring many of these very vulnerable individuals who live within the community have the adequate support.

Hi Chris Congratulations on your election.
I would support the previous message, but I would also like to add that the environment must be a key area for attention - we need action at personal, local, national and international levels. Locally, interesting things are happening at the St Ann's allotments (Fresh, ecoworks etc) and the transition movement is growing, particularly in Sneinton.

Like you I am appallled at the way the Government have allowed the Refugee and Migrant Justice service fall into liquidation and had hoped for better things from Ken Clarke etc. I will continue to press Ministers to do more to ensure decent advice and support for this especially in-need group as the alternatives are to leave a desperate problem to worsen.
