The Budget

The so-called emergency budget is unfair and regressive. The increase in V.A.T. is especially bad. The least well off will be hit the hardest.

I totally disagree with Wayne David MP for Caerphilly that the budget is unfair and regressive. The coalition is having to put right all the many errors of the Labour government. Our deficits should never have been allowed to accumulate to their present state. The least well off have already been hit hardest for 13 years by a Government that never listened. Now that, thankfully, it has been replaced, Labour - a misnomer - should stand back, and shut up.

Well you should have thought about that Mr David before you and the Government which you were a part of ran up such an astronomical tab in our name. Now we have to foot the bill for your reckless spending. So I think you're in no position to lecture the Coalition Government on how to manage the public finances.

Mr David you do not live in the real world maybe it is all those expenses you were complicit in claiming during the years you have been in government. Maybe it is the threat of your pension and golden handshakes you may loose. It is you and the decisions your government took during the last 11 years which have brought us to this position. At least the coilition has the honesty to attempt to correct 11 years of labour waste.

I think the increased VAT will have an adverse effect on everyone. Will we have the money to spend and keep the economy going?? They say the Labour Government is responsible but the crisis is global!! The Tory Government nearly brought the UK to it's knees last time they were in. What will they do this time.

Sorry Michelle, but this was not the case. The Conservative Government left Labour a healthy balance, better than Mrs Thatcher was left after the Winter of Discontent when even the trade unions turned against Labour. And to say the crisis is global is an excuse for bad planning and over-spending. For example, money was wasted on using the NHS as a white collar job centre to hide unemployment rates. The money did not go to medical staff. In 49 years of steady employment and hard work, I paid £450,000 in income tax and National Insurance. When I needed a heart operation I had to pay £18,000 of my own small savings or face an 18 month waiting time which I would not have survived. Labour let me down while the New Labour career politicians were feathering their own nests, and introducing laughable health and safety rules to disguise their total lack of commonsense - a phrase not heard during their time in office. Michelle, you must give the Coalition a chance to put the economy right.

In the 1930s, it was not cuts but investment in the economy by creating jobs that got the USA out of the depression. Some cutting was necessary then and will be here of course but banks and other private sector entrepreneurs won’t risk their capital unless they see government invest first. Otherwise recession here we come.
