To tackle loan sharks, there is a need for competition, let the government open banks and compete with the market. In the past the utility (gas and electricity) were in the hands of the government but now, after the privitisation, the consumers have no choice but to pay for increased costs, at times unjustifiable, so that the company directors can get bonuses and shareholders hefty dividends. Capitalism has failed to address the problem and at the other extreme is communism and we need a balance between the two. After the demise of communism in Russia a few have become multimillioners whereas the masses are suffering.
