I fully agree, Mark. I have questioned Ministers about what they are doing to deal with poverty several times in the past, both in the House and in written questions to Ministers. I also proposed a debate earlier this year, and spoke at length in it, on the importance of extending free school meals to every family that is considered to be under the poverty line, and on how we can improve the free school meal system and the benefit system to help those in poverty.

Given the economic situation and changes to the benefit system, more families are falling below the recognised poverty line, and so it is vital that we continue to raise these very important issues in Parliament.
